 A Real Dry Spell.....

Hi there.... I would have forgotten about this blog if I didnt see it on my account page.... reminding me of what a terrible dry spell I am having with my poetry and lyrics...... I have wotted a line or two down here and there, but really just havent been inspired to put anything together.... I dunno.... I might never write another thing, or I might have my best stuff ahead of me.... anyway.... at least this little blog will get a bump tonight......

UPDATE 6/19/2008: Still nothing to write. *shrug*

 Appalachian Moon

"The Appalachian Moon"

I remember the first time I saw you.
You Shined.

We became as one on those warm summer nights
and I pulled down the stars for you.

I loved to lay with you in the meadows
under the Appalachian Moon.

We went hand in hand together
as the years went by we weathered
the storms.

and in the calm we stopped to remember
our Appalachian moon.

You were my light
and still would shine
an eclipse that came too soon.

I wake to reach you
But you are gone.
I struggle to the meadow, the stars out of reach
and weep with the Appalachian moon.

 A Thousand Mile Away

"A Thousand Miles Away"

.

Sometimes all you can do is hold someone
When there's nothing left to say
No more right or wrong
When all is gone
All you can do is hold someone

A foot apart from you
is a thousand miles away
When your heart's taken all it can
All you can do is hold someone

A heart broken, held to your's
can say so much more
Than all the words that have already been spoken

Sometimes all you can do is hold someone
When there's nothing left to say
No more right or wrong
When all is seemingly gone
All you can do is hold someone
and tell them...

"I still love you."

 "Untitled"

I can't breathe in these woods anymore
Can't see the forest for the trees
The open places of my past
now seem to be no more....

than blurry visions
and dusty memories
of the wide open prairie
stretching as far as I could see

I haven't seen a sunset in years
this sweet green Eden
has dissolved into tears

The peace of the woodlands has become a dark dream
A place for my terrors to lurk, so close, yet unseen

The high windy grasslands are calling my name
lose myself in the red rolling plains
lost in the open
nothing unseen
The dry clean air
Oh, just to breathe!

If only to run through the desert again!
drink sweet nectar from a cactus
lift my hands to God
and then....

I'll return to these piney hills
that now are my home
healed by my pilgrimage
my time to be alone

Free of my anger and cleansed of my sin
bring the sweetest flower in the garden
to you....

and be home again.

 "The Feast Uneaten"

"The Feast Uneaten"

.....and so we have reached the end
so far from our lofty beginnings
the dream has vanished
into thin air
turn the light out
when you leave...

I want to curl into a ball
make myself so very small
as not to be seen
too tight to be loved
too hard to be touched
one last candle
is all I'll need.....

the places set out have not been touched
the feast uneaten
left to rot
nobody came
you did not care....

a new beginning
perhaps, to glory
pray for me and then
let me be
lock me in

.....and so we have reached the end
far from our lofty beginnings
the dream has vanished
into thin air
turn the light out
when you leave........
